US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday that she and Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo had "a lot of exchange of ideas" on the events occurring in the Middle East and North Africa.
"We exchanged impressions and views about how individual nations, as well as the region, is moving in the pressures for transition, for changes, for political and economic reform," Clinton told reporters at a press conference held right after the conclusion of the third-round of US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) in Washington.
Clinton, who co-chaired the strategic part of the two-day dialogue with Dai, said that in their discussions, she pointed out that, starting in 2002, there were a series of reports done by Arab experts about the development of that region and how it had not kept up with the rest of the world, particularly Asia.
She said that she and Dai had "a lot of exchange of ideas" but it was very difficult to draw "any overall conclusions" as every nation and every region is different.
She expressed continued US support for the people of the region, saying they are trying to realize their aspirations during the transition period.

Warriors' Stephen Curry has surgery on ankle

The Warriors said Wednesday the surgery was performed by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. Curry missed eight games last season because of multiple sprains on his right ankle.
He still averaged 18.6 points, 5.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. Alongside backcourt teammate Monta Ellis, Curry helped the Warriors to a 36-46 record. That was a 10-game improvement from the prift platinumrevious season.

China: Military buildup 'transparent'
China insisted Thursday it hasn't concealed details of its defense strategy, after U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged greater openness from Beijing on its military buildup.
Rice, who was in Australia ahead of three-way talks over the weekend that include Japan, said China should "undertake to be transparent" about the 14.7 percent increase in its military budget for therift gold year.
But Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Beijing has adopted "appropriate and visible military transparency measures." He said China regularly publishes papers on its national defense and is open about its military expenses, while Chinese troops have increased exchanges with other countries.
"These have been in compliance with our development strategy and security commitment," Qin said at a regular news briefing. "What is more important is that our national defense strategy is totally transparent."
This year's defense spending accounts for about 7.4 percent of China's total budget, which the government says is about the same proportion as in recent years.
The spending boost brings expenditure up to 283.8 billion yuan (US$35.3 billion; euro28.6 billion), but arift platinumnalysts believe the true spending figure is several times higher if weapons purchases and other key items are included.
Recent purchases include submarines, jet fighters and other high-tech weapons.

Industrial Revolution in America
The “industrial revolution” is a term coined in the nineteenth century to describe the rapid rise of the modern factory system and the related economic, social, and cultural effects. It is a phrase that to some extent began to fall out of favor in the latter part of the twentieth century as the factory no longer seemed quite so central to western society and as historical research began to question whether the rise of the factory system was quite as revolutionary and rapid as it once seemed. Nevertheless, it remains a useful concept for understanding the great changes of the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The concept is probably most applicable to lateeighteenth-century England, where the rapidity of the onset of industrialization, particularly in the textile and metal industries, was very much remarked upon by contemporaries. The crux of this revolution was in the transformation from handicraft work performed at home or in an artisan’s shop to factory work, performed by wage laborers and characterized by a highly developed division of labor and reliance upon automated machinery, such as the spinning jenny of James Hargreaves (d. 1778), the water frame (an automated spinning machine) of Richard Arkwright (1732–1792), and the power loom of Edmund Cartwright (1743–1823). Initially, this machinery was most frequently powered by hand or water, but as the century progressed, the steam engine of James Watt (1736–1819) became increasingly important. While undoubtedly innovative, these developments built upon a long history of textile manufacture in England reaching back at least to the Norman Conquest of the eleventh century.

Anti-Retroviral Therapy Protects Against HIV Transmission
While there was other information indicating that this was possible or even likely, this is the first trtera goldial to prove it. “It’s a resounding result,” she said, “with a 96 percent reduction in transmission if one’s on antiretroviral treatment.”
Eleven different drugs were used in trials taking place in Africa, North America, Asia and Latin America.
