The company posted a lengthy asked and answered article on their website, and one of questions related to RDR and Rockstar's other PC releases. When asked why there are no plans to bring Red Dead to PC, the company answered, "All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms. To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you’ll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy."And there you have it. I know many Rockstar PC gamers have been waiting (somewhat impatiently) for Red Dead to make its appearance but it looks like that wait will be forever. Sorry, cowboys. The good news is that it looks like the upcoming Max Payne 3 will be coming to PC though, so that's good news, right?

THQ MX Vs. ATV Alive DLC experiment was

THQ CEO Brian Farrell has admitted that an experimental new pricing structure the publisher tried with MX vs. ATV Alive 'was not a success'.In an attempt to "take some of our learnings from the free-to-play market and apply them to the console world", THQ released the off road racer at the budget price of $39.99, with less content on the disc than you'd expect in a full-price title, but placing a bigger focus on regular and substantial paid DLC packs that would allow players to selectively purchase the elements of the game they wanted. But Farrell said in a recent earnings call that while the reduced entry price "gave us good acceleration of sales, it just wasn't enough to drive the installed base to what we wanted to do". Ignoring factors such as the poor reviews for the game (63 and 62-out-of-100 Metacritic averages on Xbox and PS3 respectively), Farrell deemed the pricing structure a failure. "Our takeaway there is it's not a great model in the console market because with the high fixed cost of goods in the current console model, you can't get the price point low enough to drive that installed base for the client out there to drive the DLC."We thought the idea was (and still is) an interesting one - just poorly executed. The game, to start with, just wasn't good enough; the on-disc content was overly minimal to point of it feeling like a rip off despite the slightly lower price tag. But the thought of being able to pay for the parts of a game you want and leave out the parts you don't is appealing. We'd be interested to see how this build-it-yourself structure would work with a more desirable franchise - like Call of Duty, for example - and with a starting package that warrants the entry price tag and better-timed, more substantial DLC releases that truly allow gamers to craft the game they want.

Fulham follows Man City with FIFA 12 deal

Fulham is the latest Premier League football club to sign a deal to become an EA Sports 'Official Video Game Partner'. Following Manchester City's 'unprecedented' FIFA 12 deal, Mohamed Al Fayed's boys have put pen to paper to receive a number of game-related benefits - even if none of them sound quite up to par to Blue Moon's "digital channels" and 3D head scans of the entire team.Throughout the season, Fulham and EA Sports will be holding a range of Club events and experiences that Fulham fans will be able to get involved in.These include a bespoke FIFA 12 trailer (that's the vehicle kind) which will be present at Craven Cottage on selected match days, EA Sports branding on the LED perimeter board and a Pro Player Tournament at the club's training ground to determine which Fulham player is best.EA will also be producing a Fulham specific FIFA 12 game sleeve which fans will be able to download for free from the club's website (www.fulhamfc.com) around the launch of FIFA 12. We bet Fulham Fans will still have to play in "Forest Park Stadium" in the actual game, but at least Dempsey's on the box.Nick Harford, Football Business Lead at EA Sports said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Fulham Football Club and look forward to providing a series of FIFA 12 gaming experiences for both fans at Craven Cottage and players at the Motspur Park training ground." Alistair Mackintosh, CEO at Fulham Football Club said: "Partnering with EA SPORTS is a fantastic opportunity to offer our fans a unique gaming experience on match days at the ground, and on-line. We are very excited at the prospect of seeing our players in this state of the art game, and welcome EA SPORTS as Official Video Game Partner."FIFA 12 is out on September 30. Andy Robinson

Activision expects six Blizzard releases

We all know Blizzard likes to take its sweet time with its games, making sure it crafts them to perfection before letting gamers even have a sniff, but it looks like it'll have to get a move on for a few years. Speaking at the Citi 2011 Technology Conference today, Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tippl said Activision expects Blizzard to launch six major releases in the next three years. These releases include two expansions for World of Warcraft and two for Starcraft II. MMO and RTS fans can be excited, then. The other two releases pertain to Diablo III; first the actual bloody game, which fans have been waiting for since Werther's Originals were invented, and could be out this year with any luck. And the second a Diablo III expansion, which Tippl apparently expects out before the end of 2014 (but hopefully some time before the next ice age). Best get to work then, lads. Mike Jackson

Nintendo to make a loss on every 3DS sold

While Sony and Microsoft systematically sell their new consoles at a loss - initially at least - Nintendo has always resisted such tactics, instead balancing production costs to maintain a profit margin on its hardware. But this is a practice Nintendo will forfeit with the 3DS, according to Bloomberg Japan (via Andriasang), who reports that Nintendo will indeed be making a loss on every 3DS sold after it introduces the drastic price cuts announced today. As reported earlier, Nintendo will chop around a third off the price of 3DS worldwide next month, following lacklustre sales in the early part of 2011.3DS' RRP will drop from $249 to $169.99 in the US on August 12. A cut to the European trade price will come on the same day. Nintendo is yet to confirm the exact drop for the EU, but has told CVG that it will be "around a third".Australia will also benefit on August 12, with 3DS dipping from $350 to $250. Meanwhile, Japan will see a price drop on August 11 - to 15,000, down from 25,000. The firm also announced a '3DS Ambassador' program that will award early adopters 20 free games in an effort to prevent them from 'regretting' purchasing the console early.

Star Fox 64 3D TV ad shows multiplayer

Nintendo is cranking up the hype train as Star Fox 64 3D's September 9 release approaches, and here's the TV ad you'll be seeing on the box before long. It focuses on the multiplayer mode although it's single-player quest that we really can't wait for. It also makes us wonder what value is in the face feature cam when the guys you're playing are sitting a few feet away from you and can do their gloating in high detail at more than two frames per second. SF X Tekken Capcom working on Vita featu

Capcom's Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has said the developer is working on PS3 connectivity and other features that make use of the PlayStation Vita's hardware for the portable version of Street Fighter X Tekken. "First of all, it's always fun to work on new hardware and try new things....We're doing a lot of customization and tweaking to make sure it's as good as possible on PS Vita, jimmy choo boots," he said in an interview with the US PS Blog. "The really cool thing about PS Vita, cheap jimmy choo, of course, jimmy choo outlet, is the wealth of new features: Wifi, 3G, GPS, the gyroscope, and touch panels on both sides," he went on. "And we're looking at ways to link to the PS3 version as well to get you into the habit of leading a double-life of Street Fighter X Tekken. When you're out of the house, you play it on PS Vita and then you come home, turn on your PS3 and keep going."Ono, a key driving force behind the recent resurgence in fighting games, has said he doesn't expect the genre to crash again through over saturation like it did in the 90s.

Nintendo has revealed that the downloadable NES games to be offered free to existing 3DS owners as part of the company's Ambassador program will include "additional features such as multiplayer simultaneous play". Was A Video Game Cosplay Record Set In Wi

,cheap jimmy choo

In their "wacky news" sections, many mainstream media sources are reporting that a cosplay record has been broken in Wisconsin. The Associated Press (via The Washington Post) says a New Berlin costume company broke the world's record in video game cosplay by gathering 425 jerks to dress like game characters. The Guiness Book of Records has apparently certified this gathering as the the top in the world for people dressed as video game characters gathered in one place. But I say, "POPPYCOCK,jimmy choo boots!" Seriously, I just screamed "Poppycock, jimmy choo outlet!"at the top of my lungs.First off, nothing good has ever happened in Wisconsin. You can look that up. Secondly: At this year's Comic-Con (and at last year's, and the year before that, etc.) there were many, many more people dressed in video game costumes gathered in one place. There were more people in video game costumes gathered at PAX Prime, PAX East and any other sizable video game convention as well. This leads me to one conclusion: The Guiness Book of Worlds Records is kind of a sham. While a great source of information for stories about people who wear beards made of bees, and fat twins riding mopeds, for video game related records, it's not a very accurate source. I pains me to see a once great reference journal reduced to this kind of nonsense.I need a tissue. And a week off. And a hundred thousand dollars to continue my research.Source: Washington PostAll of the best people are following Stephen Johnson's twitter feed. Also, email me if you wanna.

Console Sales Down In August According To

The NPD results for the month of August are in. I'll spare you the charts but the gist of it was hardware sales are down at $628.9 million dollars; 21% less than this time last year. That's not to say console weren't sold. Portable consoles did see a bump in sales compared to August 2010. The 3DS' drastic decrease in price can take credit for that. The number one console for the month of August was the Xbox 360. Again. It holds 43% of the current-gen console market with 308,000 units sold last month. Thanks to the PS3's price cut, the PS3 saw an "uptick" in sales. Now before you cry foul "why aren't you posting Sony's numbers?" It's because they didn't release them. They did however release a statement:"Despite inventory constraints at retail during the first half of August, PS3 hardware sales were very strong the last two weeks of the month following the $50 price cut and the new inFAMOUS 2 bundle. The new PS3 price point, combined with PlayStation Move and the industry's strongest lineup of exclusive titles, including Uncharted 3 and Everybody Dance, positions us for an amazing holiday season."We've also got a breakdown of the NPD Software Analysis for August. But now it's time to fess up. Who bought a new console last month?

Report Sony Knew the PSN Leak Was Huge,

According to a report from Kyodo News, citing official Japanese government documentation, Sony Computer Entertainment knowingly delayed telling the public about the extent of an attack on its PlayStation Network so as not to "bewilder" its customers. The report, submitted to the Japanese government and obtained under a freedom of information request, says that SCE was able to confirm internally on April 25 (American time) that a "fairly large amount of data" had been exposed to hackers. A press release issued the next day, however, only stated that Sony could not "rule out the possibility" that personal information had been compromised. It's also claimed that PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai gave incorrect information in a statement issued on May 1, in which he said Sony didn't learn about the extent of the attack until April 26 (American time), a full day later than the company confirmed matters internally. The official document also says that Sony delayed informing the public of the extent of the breach so as not to "bewilder" its customers, a spokesperson saying "We hadn't figured out (at that time) what kind of data had been leaked. If only passwords and IDs (were breached), they cannot be considered personal information, and so we didn't want to bewilder our customers."While being out by a day seems minor, that discrepancy combined with the gap between what Sony knew internally and what it told people publicly still raises the possibility - and this is why the Japanese government is looking into this - that, as Kyodo News puts it, Sony "deliberately attempted to downplay the seriousness of the situation by not fully disclosing information".Sony knew data breach was massive but withheld full disclosure [Kyodo news, subscription required]

Blizzard defends Diablo 3 real-money auct

Blizzard has revealed that Diablo 3 will have a new auction house feature that will let player buy and sell items with real money. Blizzard executive VP Rob Pardo made the announcement at a recent presentation, explaining that the feature comes in reaction to the thriving black markets that saw people exchanging items for real cash with previous Diablo games. Instead of trying to stop real cash purchases, Diablo 3 embraces it, he explained. "People were going to do it anyway, and this way it's secure," he said, later defending the feature against the suggestion players could spend more time in the auction room than actually playing the game. "As long as players are having fun, whatever they're doing, I consider that a success," he said. Players can list anything from weapons, armour, gold or even characters themselves in an auction house and sell them to other players for real-world moolah. Players will be able to make a limited number of free listing per week, but otherwise Blizzard will charge a small fee and take a cut of the final sale amount. Blizzard also revealed that the game will require a constant online connection to be played.

Troubled LA Noire dev in acquisition talk

LA Noire developer Team Bondi may be absorbed into Academy Award winning producer George Miller's KMM Studio in Sydney, according to reports. Kotaku sources claim Team Bondi is struggling to find publishing partners for its next game following a fallout with Rockstar and accusations of harsh working conditions, and that studio boss Brendan McNamara has been seen touring the offices of KMM, which is making the animated film Happy Feet 2 and the upcoming Mad Max movie.According to the source: "Brendan McNamara was seen walking through the buildings of Dr. D [a new digital production studio created by Miller] yesterday, where Happy Feet 2 is being made."Because Dr. D is filled with former Team Bondi employees who left due to the abusive work conditions, this unexpected visit was quite... unsettling - to put it mildly."The word is going round that Team Bondi is being folded into KMM studios, Team Bondi is pretty much doomed after the scandal and can't find any new supporters, so by doing this they can hide their name."KMM is currently headed up by God of War 2 director Cory Barlog, who was working on a Mad Max game to release alongside the new movie.
