Sony launches Entertainment Network brand

Sony has unified its digital entertainment services under a new brand titled Sony Entertainment Network. Announced at the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin, the newly branded platform encompasses the PlayStation Network and Qriocity music and video-on-demand services, which have been renamed Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited.Planned as a more streamlined way to enjoy online experiences across various Sony platforms, SEN also includes third party "partner services" like Hulu Plus, Netflix, iPlayer and Lovefilm.Kaz Hirai, president of Sony's consumer products and services group, said the move will "accelerate the integration of hardware, content, and network," CNET reports."The whole of Sony is greater than the sum of its parts," he added. "We're leveraging the biggest asset, the Sony brand, to establish [a] comprehensive, global platform called Sony Entertainment Network."The rebrand comes just months after the PlayStation Network was hacked, compromising the account details of 77 million users and costing Sony something in the region of £100 million.
